I don't think it is necessarily wrong to ask question of the Lord understanding that he may choose not to answer at this time. I do think that we need to be really carfuul about what leads to questions. The book you mentioned is a novel and wasn't meant to become related to scripture. There are troubling things such as christ's marital status and the posibility of children that clearly aren't mentioned in the scriptures so please be careful.
