Hello and good evening to my fellow saints of the Most High God residing in North America, and good day to my other fellow saints residing elsewhere in this world. Well, we in North America are approaching the end of another Lord's Day. I hope that you all had a good day in the Lord. By God's matchless grace and His providential care, I had a great day, both in eats both physically as well as spiritually. I hope that we are ready to face, as Chuck Swindoll said as the title of one of his books from years gone by, "the daily grind."
Here's another free verse (or is it a blank verse?) poem for today. It's by Debbie Sho, someone whose work I'm not familiar with, but she seems to speak to me personally in several of these lines. Her poem is entitled "His Loving Kindness," rendered as follows:
A million miles from home.
How could I have strayed so far?
I thought as I neared
The end of the road.
For I landed on a distant shore,
So sure that in anger
He'd demand retribution,
Only to find grace and mercy.
Then the Son warmed my heart with His kindness.
His wave of compassion swept over me,
Covering the sandy ruins of my life.
A gentle mist soon surrounded my soul.
His sea breeze so cool and refreshing
Blew into my being
Comfort, peace and joy
And drew me back to Him,
My first love.
Verses from the parable of the prodigal son and several verses from the Song of Songs came into my thought life when I first read this several weeks ago. Maybe some of you could have picked out others. Our thanks to Debbie for her contribution.
And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively, throughout this night or day and especially in these last days in which we live. Your Christian friend and brother, Paul
