Hi everyone! The NFB is in place to promote indenpendence and to make lives
for blind people better. I am a Pagan, an NFB member and an Oregonian with
Rettinopothy of Premiturity. I believe that Christiannity is one of many
paths to eternity, the tunnel and the light. If you don't have a religian,
that is fine. Even in the Pagan community, we have many paths to eternity.
Most of my friends are Christians. I have worked with them to improve either
their own lives or the lives of blind people as a whole. I have also known
many people of other religians or the lac there of either because I was
raised by them, educated by them or just got fortunent enough to work
alongside them. I am independent because I chose to be independent. I am a
Pagan because I chose to be a Pagan. Paganism is the right path for me. I
joined the NFB because I like the pholosphy. I do my best to make lives for
blind people of all faiths better. As for the Pagan component, that is just
as much of a charituristic as being blind is. It's just part of who I am.
Believe it or not, I have had more problems with discrimination from being
blind than I ever have with being a Pagan. That is why I go out of my way to
make lives for blind people better. I want a better world for blind people.
I have banged my head on the wall with the Oregon State Legeslature more
than once all because I want to make life better for blind people. when I
mean better, I mean, better education for blind children so that they can
become independent adults, for those who go blind later in life, better
intragration into their lives as they readjust their lives, and of course,
better technology for blind people from all walks of life just to make
better improvements that they wouldn't get if it wasn't in place. As for
spiritual guidence, I have the Native American Creator, Mother Earth, and
many other spiritual beings alongside me to guide and protect me. That
doesn't mean that I'm not independent. In fact, I am very independent as a
blind person. I wouldn't know myself if I wasn't an independent, blind Pagan
and NFB member.
