[Faith-talk] Questioning Our Beliefs

This Muslim on the list and I have had discussions on and off list, one of
the reasons that many do not respond is because he often reposts things that
he wrote months ago and people have already addressed them. I am sorry that
I responded to you with my inquiries and observations, I imagine you have
your assumptions about Christianity and would rather keep them then ask
about them and perhaps I will take that line of reasoning here and let the
dust lye where it may.

I've also heard a story like that. The truth is that I do use this
philosophy in my day-to-day life. I used to have very chronic anxiety.
However, having this attitude has slashed that anxiety nearly completely,
when before I was considering medication. So I cannot accept your premise
that it is impractical.

Yes, many people preach this kind of philosophy without really following it
themselves. But that does not invalidate the belief itself. Are there not
Christians who preach love and selflessness, but in their day-to-day lives
are selfish and show no love? Yet I would not say that this invalidates the
entire religion.

Self-preservation is a natural response of the body. To one who has truly
realized the Self, they might have no preference of life or death, but still
if a car is about to hit them, the body will of its own accord jump out of
the way. If you touch a hot stove, you will pull your hand back. This is the
natural flow of nature, regardless of your beliefs.

What I find interesting is that there is a Muslim who posts his beliefs
daily unchallenged, yet I posted concerning my own beliefs to see if they
are shared by any, and have met nearly universal challenge with few
exceptions, and was told that anyone like me would be burned forever. Just
interesting to notice. :)
