I have been in that situation before. It is very difficult to be accepted as a person who just happens to be blind. Did you every try to invite the person to dinner, movie, ETC? At least you talk to them first. Some people just wait for somebody to talk to them first. Maybe you can ask about hobbies, or things you might have in common with others.
