Linda and all, as I understand it, the term "splitting hairs" refers to 
a particular interpretation of a particular portion of Scripture in 
one's own way, whether that one is denominational or individual.  This 
is something that I prefer not to get into.  I read the Bible to grow 
deeper in my relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ.  As to 
the "hair-splitters," I'll just let the arguerers do their thing and
