Hello and greetings to all of you on this Lord's Day. I hope that, as
you read this message before you set out for your respective houses of
worship, that all of us, along with our fellow congregants, will get a
good word from the Lord as imparted to us by our pastors and/or Sunday
school teachers. More importantly I pray that we will apply the same
to our individual lives as the gracious Holy Spirit enables. If you
read this message when you return home, I pray the same has applied to you.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention what happened some 15 years ago
on this date in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington VA and
Shanksville PA, the latter only some 20 miles (32 km) north of the
Maryland-Pennsylvania state line. It reminds us all to be vigilant
and, like Pearl Harbor some 75 years ago, not to be surprised but to
take action before any unfortunate event like this takes place, with
God's help and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

And now for what you've been waiting for, today's two quotes, so let's
get to them.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will
insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. Terry Pratchett

Gratitude allows us to reshape the meaning of any situation, so we can
see the perspective from which we view a joy, a sorrow, a
disappointment, even success. Dr. Robin Smith

And there you have it for today. Don't forget that, later on in this
space will be the weekly Bible trivia game poem, based on a passage
from the Old Testament. Until then or until tomorrow morning when,
Lord willing more quotes and possible news tidbits will be posted, I am
your obedient servant of the One who lived an earthly existence, died
to pay for your sins and mine, and now lives forever to bring us His
salvation and peace, Oil of Gladness.
