[Faith-talk] The State We're In

Good Morning,
I live in Berkeley and I am really concerned. Next week end there are going
to be demonstrations on both sides and I am afraid of violence. I will be
out of town with my boyfriend.

Here is how I see the whole situation:
I absolutely denounce the KKK and other Racist groups. However, I also
denounce violent speech on the left. I, for instance, heard a Wrapper
wrapping about killing white people. Here, at least, the mainstream media
plays down the violence of the left and excuses behaviors.

I also want to make a point here:
I still hear about how many Afro Americans feel oppressed. When I was
working in education and for the state, I saw many Afro Americans in good
positions. Afro Americans are Congress Members and have held office in the
supreme Court. Compare this with 65 per cent unemployment of employable
blind people. Why is there no talk about that?

By the way, did you know that Bright Bard News has an office in Jerusalem?

I, for my part, am a Survivor not a Victim. I think that one thing we can do
as Christians is to make everyone we meet feel welcome as long as they are
not violent against us. Is that not what Jesus did when he went to the
Prostitute? I, for my part am doing the best I can. I have friends from all
walks of life. I, for instance, am empathetic to a worker who lost his/her
job due to the job going outside the Us. I also empathize with people
losing their job due to advanced technology. What can we do for all those
people. We did not plan very well and large segments of this society feel
disemfrangized.

I also do not think that Christians are hateful. However, I thought that
when the Doctor who performed abortions was shot down, that that act was
very hateful and very Unchristian.

What does everyone else think?

Marianne
