[Faith-talk] Faith and eclipse

Hi, Debbie. We had about 85% here in central Florida, so I know what you
mean about the effects with birds. We only had a slight temperature drop.
Just curious, where are you located?

I believe it would have taken somewhere over 90% coverage to get the
wildlife impacts.

You're right that even this small amount of light is quite a bit, and our
eyes are accustomed, if they work, to adjusting to working with small
amounts of light.

You may remember learning, perhaps at a camp someplace, the lyrics "This
little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." There's your sermon basis,
the fact that even a little bit of light dispels darkness.

I like Ericka's comment about the eclipse unifying us as a nation even for a
moment considering all that is occurring. I hope this in fact occurred, as
we all collectively and individually seem to be experiencing a total eclipse
of the heart on a number of matters.

The coverage on the Weather Channel was pretty good, considering the main
focus wasn't describing for the blind, but one could still get a good feel
for the vent, as they could approach things scientifically without having to
juggle the other news.

I also listened to an audio description of the eclipse provided by ACB Radio
on Monday, which was presented from the campus of the Tennessee School for
the Blind in Nashville, where they experienced totality. They've put up an
archive of the program if anyone would still like to listen to and by this
means enjoy this experience. It's important for us as blind people to
appreciate these accessibility efforts, so that society will understand we
desire to be included. I heard of at least one blind person say they didn't
care about the eclipse because tye couldn't partake of it visually.

I'm gald we could appreciate this wonder of nature, and be thankful for it
no matter how we may believe it all came to be.

In Christ's love.

Where I live, we had about 84 percent of the sun's light blocked. It really
wasn't dark enough out there to convince the birds and insects it was
evening. Sixteen percent of the sun's light is still a lot of light. There
is a sermon in that somewhere.

You know, I think God did unite us all at least for today. So many people
admiring gods amazing creation peacefully. So many people could have set up
terrorist actions today including North Korea. Even Melania and Donald saw
the eclipse.

I pray that we all remember that all faiths, all genders, all races, disable
to nine disabled & all ages all took part in and gloried in that's amazing
gift from the Lord reminding us that he is still around.

God is trying to unite us, lead us we just have to realize that he never
does anything the way we want them to. I see you today as a gift and
blessing to us all in these challenging confusing times.

Peace be with you all!
