[Faith-talk] Spiritual gifts

Hi guys,
Love this topic! I do believe the gift of voice/music is a gift of the Spirit. I say this because a friend of mine received it out of the blue at a Charismatic conference. She couldn’t sing that well before, and you wouldn’t know that hearing her now. It may not be in the Bible, but the Holy Spirit can do strange things.

As for me, the charismatic gifts I have are tongues, healing, discernment, and sometimes prophecy. I have always loved praying over people, and I do massage therapy as a ministry, so I’m not certified. I love teaching about healing. I also have a gift of singing and playing the piano. I try to let the Holy Spirit work through me in my ministries.

God bless,
Christine

People in my everyday life, say that I am the most encouraging person they know. I don’t brag at all. That is my gift from the Lord. I got carried away, because sometimes, I defend my beliefs too hard, and my gifts are lost in my message. I will be on this list, to practice those gifts, and to lead you to resources. My temperament weekness is to talk too much. Traci keeps me in line about that, and keeps me humble. God bless, you guys!

My social work background agrees with you because healing does take time whether it's from abuse as a child or situations as an adult that we cannot ourselves imagine. I'm still trying to put the abuse from my marriage to rest. It's hard to put 15 years away in a Ziploc bag and forgot about it. I know that it was mental health related and him not being able to cope with Aspergers and we chose on good terms to get divorced. Second, I believe that I can learn from everyone. Of course, I grew up in the UCC myself so maybe that's the commonality. My Lutheran Church also encourage us to understand other cultures, other beliefs etc. Not embrace them necessarily but to understand where they're coming from. We just had a marvelous speaker a while back talking about the commonalities between her Muslim faith and our Christian faith.

He certainly did not give me that musical talent and I am grateful for all the People he did give that talent to. Mine is more teaching and caring as the gifts of the Holy spirit that I received. What about you? I've taken some spiritual gifts inventories and been kind of surprised at where God sees me and where I see myself.
