I like your idea on inviting all religious people to attend our conventions
ETC. One of the things the NFB needs to do more of is educate the general
public. I think we do a good job in that, but sometimes we don't do enough.

Sometimes it's not the doctrine; it's just bylaws have not been rewritten.
It can be so simple as written where when a minister becomes disabled they
are considered unfit for full-time ministerial duty. Kind of like parts of
the ADA where "reasonable accommodations" are easily misinterpreted these
bylaws are general to cover all sorts of accidents and of course I think it
probably goes back to when there were much less technology and ways to do
things as there are now. Plus I think the focus for disability organizations
on the employment field and such is good but we kind of dropped the ball on
educating congregations and leaders at the top. Perhaps we should be
inviting our pastors, bishops etc. to the national Federation of the blind
convention so they can see for themselves. Just an idea I thought of right
now.
The tricky part here with congregations is the day you don't have to abide
by the ADA kind a like they don't have to pay taxes. They get the special
privilege because their faith based, but in reality it comes down to money
and misunderstanding because they are human and things don't happen the way
they should. I understand we are a country with separation of church and
state but I really wish that the ADA was a enforced for faith-based
organizations including congregations as well!

disabilities can be practicing ministers.

Gospel. For many, the internet has to be their source for worship with
others, which is really unfortunate. I hope you can find a church where you
can be spiritually fed, and where you can get back and forth. More and
more, church leaders don't want disabled attendees or members. That's not
Biblical, of course, but that doesn't matter to them. Many don't use the
Bible much or at all anymore.

Communities of Faith division was formed. Some can't get transportation;
some can't get accessiblematerials; some aren't allowed to minister because
they're blind. Sometime having the advocacy of a national organization is
helpful!
