Hi Ericka, I am so sorry that you have had such bad experiences. After being in a church where my husband was ignored most of the time, and I felt left out socially, I am so glad to be in a place that wants us and does not judge us. I was encouraged to look at being a pastor. I did all the course work they asked me to do but then a new pastor came and he refused to mentor or help me in any way.  So I also lost the support from the Board. I was crushed and angry, and was also falsely accused of saying things I did not say.  Anyway I am glad it is over and we have moved forward.     Debby.

I did have some conelp when I first moved to Portland, OR, but that was due to a connection with someone from another city I'd lived in. Eventually I moved to a different parish, and could walk to church. On reakly nasty weather days, I did get rides. I think we do have to put forth some effort on our own, reach out and get involved. It's not easy, especially in the beginning but it's just how it is. Take the bus if you have to, walk if you have to, maybe pay for a cab once or twie, and yes I know it's expensive. But when people see that we make an effort for ourselves, they're a lot more willing then to reach out and accept us. I think that if we act like helpless blind folks that's how we'll be treated. I didd't like the first parish I attended in Portland, and happened to meet someone who took me to her parish, which I really liked. So I eventually moved to that part of Portland so that I could go to that parish. It was a great place for me. But it didn't happen easily or all at once. Well, ow'd best go now, I've probably offended many of you, and I'm sorry if I have, but in all honesty I don't regret having said anything that ow said.    Blessings,    Debby
