Sorry you didn't just go to jenny, but I totally understand how you are energized by both the music and Eucharist/communion Debby. I feel the same way. At my Lutheran Church it is very much like the Catholic mass. We even sing the Psalm responses. Our church doesn't have a Kanter, but our choir fills that role. Other places  in worship and  other times of year things are chanted. Aside from our doctrinal/sacramental differences the service at my church anyhow it's pretty much the same as your mass. Not all lutheran churches are like this however. I love the fact that our church embraces variety. Every second or third Sunday is global worship Sunday. Those days we have prayers and music from other countries and usually there is a speaker after words somehow relating to global ministries. Lately we've had an immigrant and a Muslim woman both come to speak to us about their experiences. The Muslim woman spoke about the similarities between what they believe and Christians believe. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend her entire speech. I wanted to ask her how people with disabilities were treated.

My time as a non-practicing Catholic was difficult, and even though there may be times when it is difficult, I think, for me anyway, that it is important to stay.
