Good day, list.
I appreciate Tom Anderson’s appearance Monday on our Communities of Faith committee conference call In Florida. We enjoyed hearing his testimony and his overview of Bible study resources that are accessible.
I would like to speak for a few moments about one resource he mentioned which I have enjoyed using. It’s the Bible app for iOS from Life Church, technically known as You Version, but appearing as Bible on your phone. It has 61 English Bibles available and versions in numerous other languages. This is a feature I enjoy as a language learning tool in addition to having the word generally. I have accessed a couple Spanish versions as I know some of that language and added a French version to my recently used list this week as I have a desire to learn some of that, though it will be more of a challenge.
I think one thing that is needed at this time especially in the U. S. Is a broadening of our cultural horizons, and making at least some facility in more than one language more the norm here would be helpful.
The usability of the app is good, making it a recommended resource. One can access reading plans and audio versions, which I haven’t done, but I did activate the verse of the day feature. I sent a note applauding the good VoiceOver access and indicated continuation of this is necessary as iOS upgrades happen. I also touted the language learning aspect.
