Thanks; right we do need energy to look for work! 

You have a part time job, too?

 

I tend to get sick as seasons change. I just hope I do not catch covid 19
again. I got it once last year and took an anti virual drug so it was not
too bad.

 

As for Roanna, the request for a refreshable braille display is very
reasonable.

 

I think they are waiting till she has a job offer to get the equipment. When
I had a vr case with the state agency for the blind, they were also
uncooperative and said they would only get equipment once I had an
employment lead and had to also show that my request was linked to
performing my job.

It was ridiculous. IMO, our vr system is really messed up. No wonder people
cannot find work and successfully market themselves.

 

My dad was in one of the meetings as an advocate and he told the manager
something like "she needs the equipment to practice on and learn before her
job and needs it to actually get a job."

I was asking for a braille display or embosser; cannot remember which one.

But anyway they would not help. So I just used the equipment I had at the
time such as my pc and outdated braille notetaker.

 

Roanna, if vr will not budge, I suggest you seek other sources. Lions club,
a Kiwanis club or other civic charity group might help.

If you want help researching what might be in your state, write me off list
with some info like where you live and what kind of display you want. Maybe
I can find a used one for you somewhere online at reduced price or find
options in your state.

There also might be assistive technology loan programs in your state to give
you something temporarily.
