Hello, everyone.

I think the best you can do is to get your information and guidance from Scripture. It may be wise to consult a pastor or a counsellor for your particular situation, or perhaps have your situation reviewed by a physician. Whatever you do, don't take this on alone.

One of my favorite verses is James 4:7-8: "Submit yourself, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ..."

If you draw near to God, and get to know God better, you will find him loving and trustworthy and He will fill your mind and heart, and then there will be no room for other contrary influences. The battle is the Lord's. Your part is to take it to Him and submit to His authority and grace. Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of my favorite Scriptures. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths."

There is a principle I heard about in a story once. Someone said there are two natures warring inside of me for dominance, the flesh and the Spirit. Which one will win? The answer given was, "Whichever one you feed." Paul asked that very question and also gave us the answer in Romans 7:14-25, except that he was talking about a saved Christian, not an unsaved person, and his continuing war with his sin nature.

Romans 12:2: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is that good and acceptable will of God.

Put on the full armor of God (daily), Ephesians 6:10-20.

There are so many other Scriptures, all of them interrelated, that build the most fascinating, credible (and incredible) story from beginning to end.

I remember a saying from early in my Christian life, "When Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future."

I hope this is helpful. I will continue to pray for you.

Joy
