I must say, Marion, you wrote a damned good letter in response.

I couldn't care less if someone uses a cane, dog, parquet, human guide,
whatever.
Based on the comments Mr. Hendel made, though, I would feel very
uncomfortable going out to a restaurant with him--not that I'm invited, lol.

On the question of tools: a cane is just a stick, frankly, it's your
training, orientation, etc. that make it a worthwhile mobility aid.
A guide dog is just a dog--smile--it's the doggie's training, your skills,
and the teamwork that make it a viable travel aid.

I actually didn't know thee were any blind people who cared whether I use a
dog or cane until I got a guide dog and went to Federation conventions and
met some cane-users who were pretty dismissive of guide dogs, usually these
were people who didn't want me even to mention my dogs name or people who
thought it was embarrassing when I praised my dog in public.
So, it takes different strokes for different folks.

Until we can all unite in fighting for our civil right and not care what
tool we use we're sunk as a minority.

In this regard, I have to say that the present NAGDU leadership has done a
lot of great work, my kudos to you.

Marion, I probably won't be at State but I will be at national, bring your
Martin and we can make music.
