American Humane AssociationSome of this is advertising, but focus on the
part about the hero dog award. Congratulations to Mike Hingson and Roselle.
Imagine how many people this went out to.

Hi Friend,
Happy Adopt-A-Dog Month®! This month, Temple
Grandin - a pioneer in animal welfare and an inspiration to others with
autism - received our National Humanitarian Medal and 30 U.S. governors
proclaimed Oct. 1 "American Humane Association Hero Dog Day." Read on for
more exciting October happenings.
YOUR American Hero Dog: Roselle the 9/11
Guide Dog
Roselle led her blind master, Michael
Hingson, safely down 78 flights of stairs following the 9/11 attacks on the
World Trade Center. On Oct. 1, we gathered at a red-carpet gala in Los
Angeles - with Animal Planet's Victoria Stilwell of "It's Me or the Dog,"
Betty White, RIN TIN TIN and other celebs and animal-lovers - to name the
yellow Lab top American Hero Dog at the first-ever American Humane
Association Hero Dog AwardsT, presented by cesar® canine cuisine. Each of
the eight dog finalists received $5,000 to be donated to one of our charity
partners, and Roselle won an additional $10,000 for Guide Dogs for the
Blind. A TV special of the star-studded event, produced by Emmy
Award-winning MRB Productions, will air on Hallmark Channel on Nov. 11 at 8
p.m. EST. For a $100 gift, you can get your pet listed in the end-credits of
the TV special.

Red StarT Program Rocking the R.O.A.R.
Challenge
BAD NEWS: Thousands of animals are lost,
injured or displaced by natural disasters.
GOOD NEWS: Hundreds of awesome people like
you pitched in to help our Red StarT team rescue them in our online matching
campaign with GlobalGiving and Animal Planet R.O.A.R. (Reach Out. Act.
Respond.). With your help, we've raised more than $38,000 in matched funds
and bonuses for our Red Star Animal Emergency Services program. The campaign
isn't over yet though. Here's how you can help:

Hippest Way to Help Animals
Thanks to one of our amazing National
Ambassadors, Tinsley Mortimer, helping animals has never been more
fashionable! Now until Oct. 20, 25 percent of sales from the Samantha
Thavasa boutique will go to our Second Chance® Fund in celebration of
Adopt-A-Dog Month®. All purchases made in person at the New York City store,
or via phone or email, will help care for abused and neglected animals - so
they can recover and be adopted into loving, forever homes.

"A Round of A-Paws" Animal-Assisted Therapy
Celebration
Imagine: Dinner at a fancy hotel with 56
dogs, 2 cats and a guinea pig! That's what it's like at our "A Round of
A-Paws" Animal-Assisted Therapy Celebration, presented by cesar® canine
cuisine. Last year, more than 350 people came out to recognize the work
accomplished by our hundreds of animal-assisted therapy teams. Guests heard
firsthand accounts of the extraordinary effects of the human-animal bond.
They laughed and cried at the tales (and tails) the handlers shared about
their moving animal-assisted therapy experiences. On Nov. 11, we'll gather
again to celebrate the impact of our animal-assisted Therapy teams and the
power of animals to improve the lives of people.
Attend the event.
