Nubs, an Iraqi dog of war, never had a home or a person of his own. But his
ife changes when he meets Marine Major Brian Dennis. The two form a fast
riendship, made stronger by Brian's willingness to share his meals, offer a
arm place to sleep, and give Nubs the kind of care and attention he's never
eceived before. Nubs becomes part of Dennis's human "pack" until duty
equires the Marines to relocate a full 70 miles away--without him. 
So Nubs sets out through the freezing desert to find his friend. Two days
ater, Nubs walks into the camp. But because Marine regulations prohibit the
eeping of pets in a war zone, Brian and his men collect donations and
rrange to send Nubs to live with friends in the United States, where they
ventually reunite in 2008.
