This list is sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind, NFB, and the NFB of Florida. This is the e-mail list for FOPBC. The FOPBC, (Florida Organization of Parents of Blind Children) is a division of the NFBF (National Federation of the Blind of Florida). We are affiliated with the NOPBC (National Organization of Parents of Blind Children. We are an organization of parents, guardians, grandparents, siblings, friends, educators and others interested in the future of blind children. You do not have to be a member of FOPBC, NFBF or NFB to join and post, though membership in the FOPBC and NFBF is encouraged. This list is for the discussion of family life where blindness is involved. All topics related to blindness and family life are welcome here. Parents of blind and/or visually impaired children can discuss topics related to raising their children, dealing with concerns about the educational system, public attitudes about blindness, etc. This is a place where we can raise awareness; share ideas, support and find solutions. Professionals and others who wish to take an active part in providing positive support are welcome to participate. This list is also a means of communication between the members and supporters of the Florida Organization of Parents of Blind Children, to promote and discuss the activities of the Division. There will also be occasional posts concerning issues of major importance to the blind as well as announcements concerning activities of the Florida Organization of Parents of Blind Children, the National Organization of Parents of Blind Children, the National Federation of the Blind of Florida and the National Federation of the Blind. Guidelines: 1. Please keep messages on topic. Messages about dealing with blindness and/or family life as it pertains to blindness are appropriate. Examples include discussion of the emotional impact of blindness, family relationships, ways to adapt equipment or activities, issues concerning the education and/or mobility of blind children, etc. 2. Please do not forward chain letters or virus warnings to the list. 3. Please be respectful when disagreeing with persons on the list. While disagreements are natural and healthy, insults are not.
