Hello all,

My apologies if you receive this message more than once. I just want to make sure info gets out to as many people as possible.

These are people to contact if someone is having trouble accessing a shelter or center.

Everyone stay safe during the storm.

Best,

Greg

Dear Colleagues,

If you encounter any reports regarding shelter centers and accessibility/access to services issues for individuals with disabilities and/or access and functional needs, please contact our office via email at gaada at gba.ga.gov <mailto:gaada at gba.ga.gov> or via phone at 404-657-7313 <tel:(404)%20657-7313> and we will assist to address the concerns and contact the appropriate personnel. We currently have approximately 5000 individuals living in shelter centers across the state of Georgia. This number will likely increase significantly when Hurricane Irma reaches Georgia. Please keep in mind that we are currently in a disaster response mode and that while shelters are being set up/staffed/populated there may temporary accessibility issues. However, any denial of service or denial of effective communication due to an individual’s disability should be taken seriously and addressed as quickly as possible.

Thank you,
