Colleagues:

As our representative to the Maryland State Rehabilitation Council, I
thought you should all know of this appointment. I remain a bit unclear
if this is a temporary, interim appointment or whether this represents
the final permanent selection. Here is what I have:

Subject: Appointment of Suzanne Page - Assistant State Superintendent in
Rehabilitation Services

DORS Staff:

It was an honor this morning to join with Dr. Nancy Grasmick and members
of the Maryland State Board of Education in applauding the appointment
of Ms. Suzanne Page as the new Assistant State Superintendent in
Rehabilitation Services (DORS). Sue has served as director of the MD
Disability Determination Services and as a member of the DORS Executive
Staff since 2006. She began her career with the Department in 1974 as a
disability examiner at the DDS. Ms. Page and the MD DDS have received
numerous awards over the years from the Social Security Administration
for excellence in serving the residents of the State of Maryland. I am
certain Sue will carry on that distinguished service onto her new
responsibilities.

While Sue takes over a demanding and important position in state
government, she also inherits an agency workforce that is second to
none. As I shared in my remarks to the State Board this morning, I have
tremendous respect for the outstanding staff of the Division. I want to
again thank each and every one of you for the dedication and hard work
that you bring to your job each and every day.

I leave Sue with both my best wishes for her continued success and with
the RC Thompson desk. With your support, Sue Page will continue in the
outstanding leadership tradition begun by Mr. Thompson while at the same
time charting a new course and a bright future for this agency and the
people we serve.

Best wishes,

Robert A. Burns

in Rehabilitation Services
