I am sending this note to remind all of the monthly book club at the
Maryland Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. I hope to see
many federationists present when me and my colleague, Stephanie discuss the
May LBPH book club selection. For May we will talk about The Lacuna, by
Barbara Kingsolver. Patrons can acquire this book either by calling the
library and requesting it or downloading it from BARD. Its identification
number is DB/RC070208, db denotes a digital book and rc signifies cassette.
This book will be discussed on Saturday, May 14 at the Maryland Library for
the Blind and Physically Handicapped from 12:00 to 1:30 pm.

Of this selection, the NLS annotation states:

"An American youth in 1930s Mexico City, Harrison Shepherd works for artists
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and their houseguest, Russian exile Lev
Trotsky. Returning to the United States, Shepherd becomes a bestselling
author, but his past associations raise suspicions during McCarthy's
Communist witch hunt. Some strong language. Bestseller. 2009."

I believe many of you have interest in participating in a book club and LBPH
has run one for a long while. Those who show interest can soon take the lead
in suggesting future titles for book club reading. Also, books read by the
LBPH book club will always be accessible; no scanning or buying from audible
or other sources is required. There is lots competing for your attention on
the weekend but we certainly hope many of you will choose to join us for
this book club and future meetings of the LBPH book club.
