I thought members with children or grandchildren in the Baltimore City Public Schools or those gennerally interested in good education would be interested in the below announcement:

City Public Schools CEO Search

The CEO search will include a community engagement process that offers every interested person an opportunity to advise the Board. You, as a member of the City Schools community, will have several opportunities to share what you believe to be the most important qualifications and characteristics of the next CEO. Through this process, communities will define the profile that the Board will use to recruit highly qualified candidates to lead City Schools.
In addition to helping develop the CEO profile, your input will also support the search and transition process by:

Informing the development of interview questions for the candidates
Providing the new CEO with meaningful insight into the community's expectations
Building a consensus within the school community to achieve the mission and vision of City Schools: http://www.baltimorecityschools.org/Page/13585

To ensure widespread community engagement in the CEO search process, the Board will solicit your input through:

Surveys: You can offer your input by participating in an online survey that allows you to provide your ideas about the attributes and qualities of City Schools' next CEO and your thoughts about the transformation currently underway in the district. The survey is available at the following link and will remain open until Tuesday, October 15 at 8 a.m.: City Schools CEO Search Survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9PCKN8X
Public Forums: The Board will host five public forums to receive widespread community input:

Tuesday, October 1, 2013, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, 1400 West Coldspring Lane, 6 -7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, October 2, 2013, Digital Harbor HS, 1100 Covington St., 6-7:30 p.m.
Thursday, October 3, 2013
City Schools' district office, 200 East North Ave., 8:30-10 a.m.
Frederick Douglas HS, 2301 Gwynns Falls Pkwy, 6-7:30 p.m.
The Enoch Pratt's Southeast Anchor Library, 3601 Eastern Ave., 6-7:30 p.m.

With your participation and input, we will select a CEO with the necessary experience, leadership and commitment to achieve our goals for students and meet the expectations of the City Schools community.

Please stay tuned to the Board page on the district website: http://www.baltimorecityschools.org/schoolboard for updates on the Board's progress throughout the search process. Thank you, in advance, for helping us identify the best person to prepare our students for the 21st century global workforce and for inspiring us as we forge the road ahead. Let's begin!

Sincerely,
Dr. Shanaysha Sauls
Chair, Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners
