Hi Everyone,

Maryland's primary election early voting period is April 14 to April 21, and primary election day is April 26. SBE has instructed poll judges not to inform voters of the availability of the accessible voting machine, and to offer paper ballots for hand marking to all voters except those with "obvious" disabilities. Therefore, if you want to use the accessible voting machine, it is very important that you state you want to use it when you check in with poll judges. Once you have requested to use the accessible voting machine, poll judges must honor your request.

After you have made your voice heard by voting, please let NFBMD know about your experience by completing our short ten question survey. The link to the survey is https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZGFL99W . Please complete the survey by May 2. If you have any questions about the survey, feel free to contact me at 410-659-9314, ext. 2221, or lblake at nfb.org<mailto:lblake at nfb.org>.

If you encounter any problems exercising your right to vote privately and independently, you are also encouraged to report them to the Maryland Disability Law Center:
by phone at 443-692-2492; 800-233-7201, ext. 2492; or
by email at voting at MDLClaw.org<mailto:voting at MDLClaw.org>.

Thank you and we look forward to receiving your survey responses!

Lou Ann

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
