[gui-talk] Kind of a stupid question from someone new to XP.

I learned something interesting about those error reports a few months
ago.  If a non-Microsoft program crashes and you send an error report,
that report can reach the actual company that wrote the software so
the problem can be fixed by that company.  I know some companies do
pay close attention to those.  I can't speak for Microsoft itself, but
the majority of crashes I experience come from third-party software.
If I don't have a reason not to, I tend to send those reports in, in
case the company in charge might actually do something useful with the
information.

Now, here's the answer to your question.

Having used XP for a very long time, I can tell you that it really never 
made much if any difference if you send the  error report.  Once you get 
broadband, the error report will just get sent and there will appear a close 
button.  Honestly, though, I really never detected that it made a hill of 
beans worth a difference.  So far as I am concerned, it's nothing more than 
a public relations feel good tactic.

Hi list members, Today I did a dixc check and when the computer came up, a
Microsoft dialog came up saying that an error report was made, it gives you 
the
 option of sending or not sending the report.  It wouldn't make a difference
since I'm on a dial up connection and so I couldn't go online, but if and
when I  go broadband what would happen if I say yes to that question?  What 
would
 Microsoft do to make that error not happen again?  In other words, does it
really make a big difference sending or not sending that error report?  New
to XP never saw that on 98 or windows NT 2000 only the fact that an error 
log
had been made or that it found an error and fixed it.
