[gui-talk] [nfbcs] opinions needd

That is a good approach, except that many brands of netbooks do not seem
to be available in the major stores. Almost all electronics stores seem
to have the Acer Aspire, but I have not seem the Asus or MSI models in
any of the computer or electronics stores in my area.

To add to what Curtis has said I suggest people call ahead to arrange a
meeting with a person at a store when it's convenient such as an off
time when there aren't apt to be so many customers. I've had great
results with this approach.

Elizabeth:

The choice of what computer is to buy is as individualistic as the
choice of which suit to where<smile>.

Having said that, I would say that a Netbook computer will meet your
needs as far as email and word processing are concerned, but don't
really expect to do anything hefty with such a small machine. Before
buying anything, you really need to put your hand on the unit, try out
the keyboard, and listen to the audio that is generated through the
internal speakers (assuming you want to use them). I myself do not yet
have a Netbook, and I am not particularly interested in acquiring one
just yet<smile>. The reason I am not interested is that I prefer a
somewhat larger keyboard, and I like entering JAWS commands through the
numeric keypad. For the laptop I use, I always carry an external
numeric keypad because that is my preference.

As you doubtless can imagine, opinions are just that--opinions. You
need to filter opinions through your own personal set of opinions and
make the decision that is best for you.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong
