Despite a gloomy economy, Sendero is kicking off January 2009 with
positive
news and activities.
1. Sendero spearheaded a project at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show
to
promote accessible mainstream products. Mike May collaborated with
Stevie
Wonder and a number of blind technologists. Over 100 articles were

2. Sendero and Code Factory were honored for the Best of Innovations
award
at CES for Mobile Geo. Beta testing for the next version of Mobile Geo
has
started.
3. Sendero was one of the sponsors for the Disability Power and Pride
Inaugural Ball and Mike May navigated the inauguration throngs with his
dog
Miguel and Sendero GPS.

4. January concludes the application period for the Stevie Wonder House
Full of Toys equipment donation program, Sendero's 6th blindness
community
giving project. Equipment will be awarded by the end of February.

5. Sendero has been selected for the American Foundation for the Blind
Access Award to be presented March 5 at the Jo Taylor conference in
Washington DC.
6. Visit Sendero at an upcoming conference like ATIA this week or CTEVH
and

7. Mike May has been appointed to the Veterans Administration National
Advisory Group on access technology. He already serves on the boards of
the
Society for the Blind and the Seeing Eye.
