[gui-talk] experiences wanted

All:

Part of my personal history is that I attended University in the early
80's for computer science and mechanical engineering, however, I
discontinued that study due, in my view, to the inordinate amount of
time spent converting materials for reading. Recently I heard someone
who had the same experience now, some 25 to 27 years later! What am I
missing!

I know blind people have computer science degrees, it can be done.

I know blind people can do programming, software design, etc.

I have done these things professionally for many years now without the
computer science degree.

However, its very disappointing to hear the same story when access to
such materials should not be such a burden on students any longer in our
educational systems!

I'd like to hear from others with good or bad experiences in this area.

I think its important to gain a sense of how improvements are working,
where they are not working, and why so we can target future improvements
better.

thanks.
