[gui-talk] computer has water in it.

Rob,

You should have unplugged it immediately, but if you didn't, unplug it now. Even if it is a laptop, unplug the power supply. Then, turn it over to aid getting any water to drain out. If there are vent holes on the side, then it might make more sense to turn the computer so the vent holes are down. Leave it turned over for a day at least. If at that time the outside feels dry near any vents, it is probably all right to try turning it on.

If the computer was on when the water was spilled on it and if it then went off on its own, the chances are pretty slim that you won't have to bring it somewhere.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Subject: [gui-talk] computer has water in it.

Hello all:

My new computer got water spilled on it. Of course, it won’t turn back on. What can I do (far short of going to Best Buy & spending $1,000.00 to have it fixed. Will a hair dryer work? Thanks.
