Hello all,

To join Blind Cooks, try the following:

#1. Send an email to the address:

blindcooks-request at freelists.org
.
#2. In the subject line, type the single word:

subscribe
.
#3. The email must be totally blank, no message whatsoever.

#4. You will receive an email in reply to your request, asking you to confirm you wish to join the list. Just follow the instructions to return that confirmation reply email exactly as it came to you.

It is possible to view the Blind Cooks archive at:

www.freelists.org/archive/blindcooks

to find out what has been discussed.

It is possible to use the above process to join any Freelists email list, providing you know the exact name of the list to place in the request email. Some group names run all words into one, some separate words with a hyphen, so accuracy is necessary. Similarly, to leave any list, change the subject line to read:

unsubscribe

Paul Benson.

Hello all,

There is a blind cookery list to be found on Freelists as follows:

Blind Cooks.
Welcome to Blind Cooks; a place where people with visual disabilities can
exchange messages about how to improve their cooking skills as they relate
to the daily challenges of being blind or visually-impaired. People with all
levels of experience in cooking from beginners to seasoned cooks and even
professionals are welcome and needed so as to benefit everyone. Whether you
have a ton of questions or wish to share your wisdom and experience, this is
the place for you. Come on in and exchange your favorite recipes, discuss
the latest adaptive products, and improve your cooking tecniques and
procedures so you can make dishes even you can't' resist\!

It seems this list has 26 members, and has only started in November 2013,
perhaps about 60 postings so far.

So, if this list exists, perhaps Freelists will permit more of similar in
their Special Interests Category?

Paul Benson.

But it will be obvious from the group that it is not anything like the
CookingInTheDark group. I have been in that group and a couple of other
groups for blind cooks, it is not the same.

Yes you can just tell them the group is for blind people to talk
about how they cook because blind people have to cook differently
then people who can see and the group is a place where they can
talk about what works and does not work and also share different
dishes to cook.

Unfortunately, it will be hard to prove. One of our groups is
blindness-related, but the rest are about recipes and chat.
Cannot exactly
claim them as blindness groups by any possible stretch.

I have a group that is not a tech group, if you go through the
process of
making your group you will find social issues as one of their
accepted
groups, so it comes to your wording of the jjgroups purpose, I
had to redo
my list purpose twice. Use the term of study blind use or
something like
that and you will have no problems.

Good luck. I wish FreeLists accepted groups on topics other than
technology,
but it is the site's policy and we have to follow it, and it is
just
unfortunate, because those of us who run groups on Yahoo and find
it harder
to do, have no other place to go.
