[Home-on-the-range] May Monitor must reads...

The Monitor was, indeed,a great read. One thing I marveled at as I read the NOPBC Article, is what a good thing is available now for parents and children alike, and some of it sighted kids can learn a great deal from. When I was bringing Antoinette to convention, there wasn't nearly so much available. She wished there was a group vailable of kids with blind parents where they could network. I had always thought it would be a good idea, complete with a blind adult to help with it. There are so many things going on that are similar. I wish I could go to the thing on reading raised line drawings. LOL.

As for the article about the guy, Reuben, in Colorado and his nightmarish day after Thanksgiving, it was a wonderful story of confidence that had a growth spurt. I imagined myself in the same position, and I'm not sure I would have taken it nearly so well. I like experiences like that if I am with someone. Sharon Luka and I have had a couple. I just think it was marelous and something to aspire to.

I had a member of my chapter tell me he can't be secretary because he can't read print well enough and doesn't really have Braille. As I read the young lawyer's story, I couldn't help thinking of all this man is missing.

DO READ IT!

> Hello federationists...again, an excellent issue of the Braille Monitor is at your fingertips...May's issue has several articles I found most interesting and inspiring as well as somewhat humorous at times. Those of you out there claiming to be fashionistas don't want to miss "how braille turned me into a purse junky"...everyone else will enjoy it as well though some of you husbands, for example may still not "get it!" The story of this young lawyer could be our story when it comes to us avoiding the learning of braille....

Happy reading! Dianne
