Subject: [Home-on-the-range] Very Sad News

I am sad to report to you all that one of our long time Federationists,
Loren Schmitt of Iowa City, passed away last week from some heart issues. He
had begun trying to get to the bottom of what was wrong, but he never had
the chance to have the last tests.

Loren was born and raised in Iowa, graduating from the Iowa Braille and
Sight Saving School in 1963. He attended the Commission for the Blind, then
college at the University of Iowa. He lived for a number of years in Idaho
and then returned to Iowa. For several years he was in Kansas working at the
Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Visually impaired.

Loren's daughter, Sarah, who now lives in Idaho, and his sister from North
Carolina are in Iowa City making his arrangements. I will let you know
further details as we know more.
