Kansas has a rich history standing up and fighting for individuals with
disabilities. Our great Senator Bob Dole led the charge in the 1990s to pass
the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and following in his footsteps
this Congress has made great strides in new policies like the ABLE Act. I'm
proud of that work we've done and look forward to continuing to build upon
it.
Last week, the House passed H.R. 620

Reform Act, in spite of my vote in opposition to the bill. I believe that
this bill is an unfortunate weakening of the ADA and a step backward for
people with disabilities, simply making it harder for them to have their
rights represented in court by creating new hoops for them to jump through.
I voted against this legislation, and I will keep working to protect the
rights of individuals with disabilities.
