>
> Invitation to participate in Stakeholder Meeting
> 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020
> 10 locations statewide (listed at the end of this message)
>
> As a consumer, advocate, service provider, employer or other stakeholder, you have valuable insight about the employment-related needs of people with disabilities, the performance of the vocational rehabilitation (VR) program and opportunities for continuous improvement in the services and programs we offer.
>
> Because of your connection to VR, I want to extend a personal invitation to you to participate in our upcoming stakeholder meeting on the afternoon of January 6, 2020. The meeting will be an interactive webcast using technology to connect people in 10 Kansas communities. Participants in each location will be able to share their comments or questions which will be broadcast live to all locations.
>
> In addition to an opportunity to discuss VR services, participants will also be able to provide input for the updated Combined State Plan being developed under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). This Combined State Plan will address the mission, vision and operational strategies for collaboration among the WIOA core partners. In addition to VR, the core partners are:
> • Adult, dislocated workers, and youth services programs overseen by the Kansas Department of Commerce and operated through local workforce areas and centers. Also included are labor exchange services.
> • Adult Education overseen by the Kansas Board of Regents and operated through two-year colleges, school districts, and community-based organizations statewide.
>
> This meeting will be a great opportunity to discuss how the comprehensive workforce system, including VR, can best meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. We are excited about the opportunity to hear from you about your experiences and suggestions, and to work with you to empower Kansans with disabilities to reach their goals for employment and self-sufficiency.
>
> Your input will make a difference in the future priorities of the VR program as well as the larger workforce system in Kansas. Your input will also be used in updating the Combined State Plan and the VR Portion of the Combined State Plan. These documents address the overarching vision of the State’s workforce system, and specific operational requirements unique to each core program.
>
> Draft copies of the Combined Portion of the State Plan and the VR Program Specific Portion will be posted for review and comment no later than December 18, 2020. Go to this link to view the documents: http://www.dcf.ks.gov/services/RS/Pages/Employment-Services.aspx
