Emily Schlenker is the president of the NFB of Kansas South-Central chapter. Her blindness is caused by Leber's Congenital Amaurosis. Emily plans to attend pharmacy school next year. She lives with her fiancé, teenage daughter and her pets, which include tortoises, birds and other reptiles. Emily has won the NFB of Kansas state scholarship on multiple occasions. She is the first totally blind woman to be accepted into a doctorate pharmacy program. Emily has a great passion for science and animals and is a role model to blind and visually impaired students. She is also a strong leader within our organization.
