About the Exhibition

Textiles are an essential and formidable part of our lives. They provide, shelter, protection, and comfort. This exhibition, Threads That Unite, is dedicated to the emotional qualities of textiles that unite us as a society and bring healing during these tumultuous times. Artists Sugandha Gupta, Naomi Lawrence, and weavers from the AHRC Fisher Center come together to share the beauty, tactility, and healing that textiles bring to us. The exhibition highlights inclusive practices, connecting diverse artists and audiences. Gupta invites audiences to interact with her multi-sensory textiles through tactile, visual, audio, and olfactory engagement. Lawrence, an East Harlem-based Fiber Artist, works with yarn to create oversized 2-Dimensional flowers, trees, and wildlife that inspire public engagement and civic action through crochet. The exhibition will also feature artwork created by a team of local weavers.

5:00 - 7:00 PM Saturday, September 17th

This is an in-person exhibition

The show is up for all of September and until mid-October by appointment with Positive Exposure : <https://www.google.com/search?q=positive+exposure&rlz=1C1UEAD_enUS939US939&oq=positive+exposure&aqs=chrome..69i57j46i175i199i512j0i512l2j69i60j69i65j69i60j69i61.3887j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8> (212) 420-1931
