[humanser] [human] INTERVIEWING

I agree with you about having this list years ago. I had so much difficulty
because I was going through a transition in my vision from partially sighted
to low vision. All I really had was my tapes, dark lined paper, and my CCTV
to do my work in my Bachelor's level courses. Then, I had a computer and a
Braille notetaker in my Master's level courses but, I really didn't have
many blind persons to speak with at either level. I joined the Federation
in 1990, so it wasn't that I didn't know about the NFB but, I didn't know
about this list. It's great to have people who have been in Social Work or
counseling for a long time because their experiences are gems. Even in my
Internship, I had a difficult Supervisor who never really believed I could
do the work as a blind person. I know I could have done so much better
with the help of the people on this list. So, let's all be thankful for it.
If I need to return for more education or training, I know I'll be on this
list, asking lots of questions.
I like the discussions about interviewing. I have to say that although I'd
like to work in a hospital setting, I've always been a little worried about
the mobility. JD, you gave me some real confidence boosting information.
Thanks so much. You're right, if I can navigate National Convention, I can
navigate a hospital and I shouldn't be worried. Thanks again.
Regards,
Denise

The same thing for me! It would have been awesome to have known this
list back in 98/99 when I had many doubts on how to adapt psychometric
tests and other areas of study! Since when has this list been around?
