Hi Marisol,

I live in Bowie, MD (just 20 minutes from Washington D.C.). I have
worked with Vietnam Veterans at Walter Reed in collaboration with the
National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke during my
Masters training in Psychology. The Veteran's had sustained Traumatic
Brain Injuries (TBI). I also worked at Bethesda Navy hospital with
Veterans with Alzheimer's Disease. My jobs in these instances was
mostly assessment on a cognitive and psychosocial level of functioning
and to follow-up with them periodically.

This sparked my interest in working with Veterans suffering from
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and comorbid disabilities,
particularly TBI.

Due to health problems and acquiring my vision and hearing loss later in
life at age 40. I can well identify with the problems of an older
student. However, I have found that older students are just as capable
as our younger peers and in some ways more confident and knowledgeable
about the world which will benefit you in your studies.

Although I am not in social work but counseling, I am more than willing
to talk with you about your interest in trauma and Veterans.

Janice
