Thank you for reaching out Mary.

While I've never been denied a position based on accessibility needs: I have
been terminated based on this very issue.

After being on the job for 18 months, I was informed by the HRD that "we can
no longer accommodate your disability." When hired, I was told that if the
EMR system was not compatible with JAWS, "no worries, we will do what is
necessary to accommodate you." However, this was not the case.

Needless to say, as we speak, the organization & I are currently in
settlement negotiations as an EEOC complaint was filed and I also sought the
counsel of an attorney.

Hope Lewis, LMSW

Good afternoon,

I apologize for any redundancy. I had received no feedback and am unsure
regarding the reason. I am wondering if anyone on this list has been denied
a position or had a job offer revoked based on disclosure of
accessibility need? We are facing profound transformation in our direct
service provision as mental health providers. The current state of mental
health delivery has been digitized and therapy and medical appointments must
be conducted in more remote manners.

Many of the national service agencies and tele-platforms are limiting the
service offerings when they choose to deny the accessibility features
necessary for practice or access to the EMHR, electronic medical record
features. Please reach out and share your experiences. If you or some
professional with whom you are familiar has been confronted by a situation
like this, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated feedback.

Genuinely,

Mary
