Subject: IMHRA conference invitation - June 24 in Peoria - Housing Workshop
on AFFH

You are invited to attend the 2010 Annual Conference of the Illinois
Municipal Human Relations Association (IMHRA). The conference is
expected to attract municipal officials from around the state, as well
as human resource professionals who are interested in promoting
diversity within their organizations. The 2010 Annual IMHRA Conference
theme is: A CIVIL/HUMAN RIGHTS AGENDA: AN ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY; the
conference will be held on June 24 at the Holiday Inn City Centre in
Peoria.

A housing workshop, titled "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing: What
Does It Mean for Municipalities?" is scheduled for the afternoon.
Participants will learn about the requirement for recipients of HUD
funds (such as CDBG funds) to "affirmatively further fair housing"
(AFFH), as well as the implications of the Westchester County case
involving allegations of fraudulent AFFH certifications. Panelists will
include Maury McGough of HUD and Gail Schechter of Interfaith Housing
Center of the Northern Suburbs.

Please share this invitation with anyone who may be interested!
