I’m forwarding information about the touch tours and audio described performances at Chicago Lyric Opera for the 2017-2018 season. They are offering an incredible price of $20 for Sunday matinee performances. Even if you’re not an opera fan, you may find the experience worthwhile. The chance to explore the stage, get your hands on the amazing costumes, and check out the gadgetry for changing scenes and creating special effects is worth the price of admission.

I hope you're enjoying the summer!

As promised, the full list of audio described/touch tour performance dates for Lyric's 2017-2018 season are at the bottom of this email. Thank you so much to everyone that provided date/time preference feedback - the overwhelming majority preferred weekend matinees so you'll notice all dates this season are on Sunday afternoons. In addition, we have a reserved section of seating on the mid to rear Main Floor for everyone enjoying the audio description and/or touch tour. This will allow everyone to get settled in their seats during the touch tour portion, leave personal items at your seats, AND it will enable front of house staff to keep a closer eye on any device issues that may come up during the show. Also - and perhaps most exciting? - tickets for anyone participating in an audio described performance will be $20! That $20 price will be extended to one companion per show as well.

If you are interested in tickets to any of these performances, contact our Audience Service department at 312.827.5600 <tel:(312)%20827-5600>  and tell any representative you're interested in the Audio Described performance. An important note: single tickets go on sale at 10am on Monday, July 10 - so please don't call before then! Please also let me know which performance(s) you're attending so we know who to expect.

Lastly, I will be out on maternity leave from late August through mid-November. During that time, your contact will be Megan St. John - she's copied here and can also be reached at my phone number (312.827.3577). Megan will be here for each audio described performance and will be sending out the informational emails and Word programs prior to the performance date. I should be back for the Pearl Fishers performance on 11/19, if not sooner!

Pearl Fishers on Sunday, November 19

Touch tour at 12pm, pre-opera talk at 1pm, curtain at 2pm

Turandot on Sunday, January 21

Touch tour at 12pm, pre-opera talk at 1pm, curtain at 2pm

I Puritani on Sunday, February 4

Touch tour at 12pm, pre-opera talk at 1pm, curtain at 2pm

Così on Sunday, March 4
