Hello all,

I am calling a board meeting for Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 5 pm. The call in
number is 641-715-3273 and the code is 6324. 

It is rare that an emergency board meeting of the National Federation of the
Blind of Illinois is called. But because of some damaging legislative
amendments to a bill now pending in the Illinois legislature, we need to
have a meeting to discuss what action to take. The bill is HB 423, and it
would significantly scale back the educational requirements for Teachers of
the Visually Impaired. For example, there would be no requirement that the
person seeking to teach a blind child would need to know or be proficient in
the use of Braille or other nonvisual techniques.
