Debbie had 3 great nephews and a niece who had covid-19 but are now well.
Jeanetta Price, who is the three-time elected President of the NFB
Community Service Division and owns the nonprofit company Blind Girl
Magic, presented regarding the way in which her company started
through t-shirt sales. The company offers one-on-one training through
Jeanetta and volunteers in social skills, adjustment-to-blindness, and
technology skills. She plans to soon expand beyond t-shirts to many
other products with similarly positive inspirational messages. Jeanetta
can be contacted via phone or text at 409-344-1005 or via email at
the1andonlyprice.jeanetta at gmail.com.
Dave led the Chapter in reciting the NFB Pledge.
The minutes of the meeting held Sunday August first 2021 were read
through the zoom screen sharing option and approved as amended. One
amendment will clarify that chapter dues are two dollars per year.
Marilyn moved, and Linda seconded, a motion to again table presentation
of the May meeting minutes until Secretary Reif received further
information necessary to establish attendance and other information
documenting who attended and what happened. The motion passed.
Dave reported that the September Presidential Release was not yet
available in a form he could play.
Marilyn presented the State Report, thanking those who attended the
August 28th Board Meeting in Lisle. She reminded people our convention,
which is themed stronger than the pandemic, will take place October
22nd through 24th at the Sheraton Lisle Naperville Hotel. The online
registration form is accessible and should be completed there. Those
needing assistance can contact Marilyn at 312-343-8396 Patti Chang at
773-307-6440, or Dave Meyer at 708-209-1767 home or or 708-606-7091
cell. Those paying by check should send it to Treasurer Michal Nowicki,
5128 N Oak Park Ave, Chicago 60656. Marilyn encouraged people to pay At
Large dues through the form, which would pay their Chapter membership
through December 31, 2022. We had not yet been assigned a national or
an IABS rep. Debbie is working on the Braille is Beautiful script and
can be contacted at 773-203-1394. Registration deadline is October 7,
after which convention registration moves from $5 to $25 and $5 is
added to the cost of each meal, including the banquet. Finally: Marilyn
mentioned the Boards adoption of Covid-19 protocols, including a
requirement that a negative test result be emailed to
pattischang at gmail.com within 72 hours of convention.
Dave asked about the At Large Pizza Party. Marilyn said we are
negotiating with the hotel for a buffet or a Grab and Go meal option
Friday night because the hotel restaurant will be extremely understaffed.
The State Board, having won last years Battle of the Chapters, has
chosen fight songs as the theme. The At Large Chapter voted to perform
Eye of the Tiger. Dave will mail the lyrics to At Large Chapter members
whose emails he has. Others should contact him at datemeyer at mysero.net.
Next Chapter Meeting is set for Sunday October 3rd at 7:00 PM.
September Presidential Release and October if available will be played then.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bill Reif, Secretary
