Well, spring is here and so is the month of April. Time sure flies . . . we must really be having a good time!
THIS MONTH'S MEETING
Our next meeting will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 1:30 PM at the South Moline Township Center, 637 17th. Avenue in East Moline. Our meeting will feature Leslie Cox from Trinity Health Care speaking on diabetes. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of vision loss, and this program should be of interest to us all.
LAST MONTH IN REVIEW
Bob Gardner demonstrated the "ID Mate," an electronic device which reads and verbalizes bar codes. Using the ID Mate, a blind person can easily detect grocery items, music CDs, and all the many things which are marked with bar codes by the manufacturer. Bob also demonstrated the Humanware "Victor Stream." The Victor Stream is a small electronic device which can be used to read digital talking books.

UPCOMING EVENTS
May 9: Our May chapter meeting will be a luncheon meeting, held at Bennigan's Restaurant in downtown Rock Island. We will be ordering off the menu, and we will all go Dutch. Plan on being at the restaurant by 11:45 so we can order our meals by noon. At this point, we also plan on riding the bus to Rock Island. Those interested in this travel adventure will meet at the Moline bus terminal. More details will follow.
June 13: Again this year, we will have a potluck chapter meeting at the Gardner's in Hampton. Once again, we will demonstrate the long white cane and even do some cane travel around the neighborhood.
July 3-8: NFB National Convention in Detroit. Please consider going to this great NFB event. It's been said that this convention changes people's lives, and I believe it.
RECIPE CORNER
Please submit your favorite recipes. You can give written recipes to me at the chapter meetings, send them email (address in letterhead), or mail them to me at: P.O. Box 191, Hampton, IL 61256. Thanks! Nancy
