I'm sorry but all I've got to say is is very insulting to see another
news story on her. Especially after Carmen. Because it's true, she did
believe in her and so did the rest of the NFB. Before I left to go back
to Colorado, Carmen and I were listening to an interview that Nick
Di-Gilio of WGN had with Laura. She was in the studio talking about her
experiences and never once mentioned the NFB or the School for the
Visually Impaired where she got her start, her confidence, and her
independence. She was asked on the Nick D show if there are
organizations to help people like her who are blind and Carmen and I
were saying to each other and ourselves, NFB, NFB, NFB. And NFB never
once got mentioned. She said there was nothing out there to help the
blind community. I rest my case. I'm sorry I may sounda bit ticked off
right now, but after Carmen and Kris helped her to move back to Chicago
from Iowa City and after the NFB helped her gain her independence and
helped her get to where she is now, she can't give credit, so it really
does upset me.
