Earlier today I forwarded a message from Pam Redding of World Sport Chicago, urging us to cast our votes to help two Chicago area programs for athletes with disabilities win grant money. Some screen reader users have had trouble navigating the site, so Pam sent me a short explanation of the web page for voting:
Of course there are banner ads on the left and right of the screen; you don’t need any of that information. The content you need is in the center section. It starts off with content to “Help Pick Our Finalists”. Then, the next section is called “Meet the Contestants and Vote”. This contains three smaller subsections, one for each category, and three candidates in each category. The first category is for “Small Business” and has three entrants from which to choose, then the next category is “Health and Fitness” with its three entrants, and finally, “Community Service” and its three entrants. There are photos of each entrant and right facing arrows on each photo to select their video to play, then a button under the photo to select that candidate, and finally, a large button to select to cast your vote, called “VOTE”. In that last “Community Service” section, the candidates are, from left to right, Zach B. from Newport, Rhode Island; Peter M. from Frankfort, IL; and Keri S. from Lake Forest, IL.

To refresh your memory, Peter’s program is for kids in the far south suburbs with disabilities, and Keri’s ParaTriathlon program is for people with disabilities of any age and is based mainly in the city.

I hope that is helpful to you, and everyone else who was very kind to want to vote.

THANKS so much for your support of this initiative!
