Happy New Year to all! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to the New Year. Start out the New Year right by coming to our January 8th chapter meeting. We'll warm you up with interesting information, conversation, friendship, and tasty refreshments. Come join us!

THIS MONTH'S MEETING

Our meeting will be held on Saturday, January 8, at 1:30 PM, at the South Moline Township Center at 637 17th Avenue in East Moline.

Our program this month will feature a discussion about "The Courtesy Rules of Blindness." Many topics are included in this discussion: how do sighted people see and treat the blind?; how do the blind react in certain situations?; how do the blind want to be treated in certain situations? The "Courtesy Rules" are certain to invoke a lively interaction between all of us.

LAST MONTH IN REVIEW

Last month we had our annual Blackhawk Chapter Christmas party on Saturday, December 11th at Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the evening a success. We had lots of good food, fellowship, door prizes, entertainment, and silent auction items. It was a wonderful night, and we had about 34 people attending. As you may remember, we had some pretty rough weather that day and night, but we are a hardy bunch! We missed those who were unable to come.

Special door prizes were donated by Joanne, Kathy Abbot's friend (crocheted afghan), Kathy Crooks (large fruit basket),and the Blackhawk Chapter (Louis Braille coin). We also had a 50-50 raffle which was won by Patrick Olson.

One of the highlights of our Christmas party was a special musical Holiday program featuring Todd Johnson and Todd Nyquist. A good time was had by all!
