I believe this is vary important for the blind community that have medical
needs outside of there blindness and encourage people to come out. Tom is a
great educator and I am sure there will be a lot of good info given.

Hello, Mr. Meyer!

You and I chatted for a few minutes at the Amtrak station in Springfield
last week. I'm a health access policy analyst at Access Living in Chicago.
I think I mentioned our forum this coming Friday on health care for people
with disabilities. I'd like to extend an invitation again to you and your
consumers and colleagues in the disability community generally and at the
Chicago Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Illinois. The
event will take place Friday, March 18, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Access
Living, 115 W. Chicago, 2nd floor conference room. Access Living was
engineered on universal design principles and is fully accessible. We will
also have personal assistant services and, for those with hearing
difficulties, ASL interpretation.

The first part of the forum will consist of some basic education about the
new Affordable Care Act and its relationship with people who have
disabilities, the transition in Illinois for Medicaid consumers who will be
moved to managed care, the effect of budget cuts, the ADA and health care
rights, a Hospital Access Project that we are conducting with a health care
attorney, and developments at the Justice Department with respect to new
health care regulations for people with disabilities.

The second part of the forum will be devoted to listening to the experiences
of people with disabilities who have encountered health care barriers and
obstacles of all sorts. We would love to have you and/or all other people
interested in this forum feel free to attend. Don't forget to remind your
consumers that we will have refreshments!

Thanks, Mr. Meyer. Feel free to contact me at this email address. I check
it often when I'm here in the office.

Marilyn Martin
