Wow, Jenny, your Victor kicked the bucket just from static!
Meanwhile, a booksense I know, went through an airport x Ray several times, and is still ticking, despite security trying really hard to find a bomb in it.
True story,
no bomb.

Hi connie,

I had a Victor which in my first winter in Illinois, I shocked to death with static electricity. It was totally fried and wouldn't work any more.

I have a book sense, which I hate with a passion and kick myself for not buying the Victor, but I was told that it had more features, so stupid me, I bought it.

I find it way, way, way more complicated than it needs to be.

I would sell it, but I don't have all its stuff that came with it so I keep it around collect dust and cursing it when I come across it.

thanks for the info.

The Victor Reader is put out by a company called Humanware. Here is their
website: www.humanware.com/. You can find out their phone number from this
site and who the dealers are in your area. If you decide to get one, I think
you will really like it. I had one, but now have a Booksense, which is put
out be Hims. Their website is: www.hims-inc.com/. It is smaller and more
compact than a Victor Reader. It is about the size of a cell phone. With
both of these devices you can download NLS books, books from Audible and
Bookshare. You can also copy MP3 music files. You can get your Newsline
newspapers by e-mail and copy the files onto the SD card. They're both
really great devices and are comparable in price.

Hi all,

I have some questions. does this Second Sight place teach you ways to do
things like activities of daily living or mobility?

My other question is this, Does anyone know how to obtain a victor Stream
and if so could someone give me the number for the nearest rep, or the
company who makes it.

Thanks,

Jenny

The Guild will be celebrating 65 years of helping our members live
their lives to the fullest. Times have changed and so have we. It is
in our nature to constantly adjust and adapt to what our members want
and what we see they need. We believe our current programs provide a
solid and complimentary core of services. But, our name does not
reflect what we do or who we are

After a year-long process, we have selected a new name that embodies
our mission. We selected our name as it speaks on several different
levels
about who we are, who our members are and what we do. We work with our
members to help them gain a second sense of self, find a new sense of
purpose and rediscover their sense of humor. Our programs also help
our members use their common sense, along with their senses of hearing
and touch, to learn new ways to do old tasks.

Same services, same staff, same commitment to our members, same sense
of belonging - with a new name. Welcome to Second Sense!
